  • Firaol Ahmed moved from Ethiopia to Saint Louis when he was in his freshman year of high school. He got interested in running, and is now on the track and cross country teams at Saint Louis University, where he is studying finance. Firaol’s family grows coffee in Ethiopia, and a couple years ago he decided to start his own company selling green and roasted coffee in the US, for which he was named one of St. Louis Business Journal’s under 25 innovators of the year. Firaol sent me samples, and we made a deal on a small lot. This is a natural from Guji, grown on a farm owned by a man named Wondafrash Edema. One of twenty-nine siblings, Wondafrash attended university in Addis and then returned to his home village to take over coffee production from his father. Two of my favorite things come together. Listen to Firaol's story at aacafe.org.
